It’s an magical Christmas at our house this year. This is Sam’s first official Christmas and he loves all of the excitement of the season’s events. He loves the presents, lights, parties, food and even Santa. I wonder if he has any clue about what will happen when he wakes up in the morning!
Our Christmas Eve traditions are probably not all that original, but Molly has been really looking forward to this evening. And because Molly’s excited, so is Sam.
After dinner, we bathed the kids and got them ready for bed. Then we loaded in the van so that we could go out and look at all of the holiday lights.
Apparently we got too late of a start, because 10 minutes into the tour, I looked in the back seat and saw this:
Poor Sam. His first Christmas with us and he misses out on all of the good stuff!
Once home, we carried Sam in and posed him under the tree. At least he would look like he was a part of things. Sort of. Molly and I snuggled in for the annual reading of Twas the Night Before Christmas.Sam slept for the entire book. Sigh. Oh well, there is always next year.
Next up: preparing for Santa. Molly brought a plate of cookies and glass of milk for Santa, and a plate of oats for the reindeer. I carefully moved sleeping Sam over to the fireplace to pose him for the next picture. Lo and behold, he woke up! At least he caught the tail end of the traditions. Right after this picture was snapped, Molly knocked the glass of milk, spilling it’s contents all over the carpet. So now we have another Christmas tradition.
Steam cleaning the family room carpet.
