Party Girls

When you have a five year old, you go to the zoo a lot (see previous post). Fear not…this is not another zoo post!

Another thing you do is go to parties. Lots and lots of parties. And when you are as social as Molly, you have more than your share of friends, who all get older every.single.year.

This party was a bit different for both Molly and me. You see, It was the first drop-off party. A party where Molly goes, and I don’t. *sniff, sniff…my baby is growing up*

Because of the drop-off aspect of the party, I didn’t get a lot of pictures, which is simply a crime. How can I adequately document my child’s childhood without pictures?

I managed a few at drop-off and pick-up. I guess that will have to do. Sigh.

Here’s our party girl posing before entering the party.IMG_5846

And here she is with the guest of honor, Brooklynn (on left) and Makenna (on right).IMG_5847

And this is where I made my grand exit. Shunned. Left to face the cruel world, all on my own….

Two glorious hours to myself! To do things that I want to do! No buckling of car seats, no bribing explaining to a child how I expect her how to behave in  a store. No one to make happy but little old me.

And that’s just what I did. When I returned to the party, I was sporting a brand new pair of shoes on my feet, with another brand new pair of shoes waiting for me in the car!

Ahhhh, two new pair of shoes that I got to shop for alone. All alone. No whining. No complaing. No “How much longer are you going to be, Mommy?”

How luxurious. Not that I don’t love my kid, but moments this this are precious and few in my life.

Back at the party, Brooklynn was just about finished unwrapping gifts. Guess I need to review with Molly how to sit like a lady when you are wearing a party dress. I see London, I see France, I see Molly’s underpants.IMG_5848

Okay, that’s  little more lady-like, sweetie. Just trying to keep the blog “G” rated.IMG_5849

This party was at a cupcake bakery. Each party guest got to decorate 6 cupcakes to bring home. Yum! Here are Molly’s creations.IMG_5853

So, I guess we both survived to first drop-off party. Molly got a boxful of cupcakes, I got 2 brand new pairs of shoes. Looks like a win-win situation!

The Field Trip

I hate to do this to you, I really do. And I apologize in advance. You see, Molly went on a field trip the other day and I want to blog about it.

I blog for a couple of reasons. One: Periodically I have my blog turned into a keepsake book for Molly, so I like to keep track of all of the things that we do. Two: My parents in Colorado live for Molly. They don’t care if I post pictures of the back if her head. They want pictures, and lots of them.

So why am I apologizing for this blog post. Well…. because….. okay, okay I am just gonna put it out there, folks: The field trip was to the zoo.

Yes, the zoo. Again. For the millionth time, I a blogging about the @#$&* zoo. I’m sorry. Truly. If you want to stop here and go on to someone else’s blog, I understand. But if you hang with me, thank you.

Alrighty, the day started out cold and rainy. No big surprise, it’s been raining nonstop for over two weeks. We came prepared.IMG_5810

Next was the obligatory group shot of Molly’s preschool class, her teachers and some random parents.IMG_5811 (2)

Periodically, the sun shone through the clouds for a fleeting moment. Here’s Molly and Jackson on one of the many zoo statues that you have seen in a bunch of other pictures.IMG_5816

I love this picture. Three fiery redheads--Kelsey, Makenna and Landon—with a sign above them that states, “May be hot to the touch.”IMG_5817

Looking to see where the stingray swam off to.IMG_5819

Molly could spend hours playing at this boat. IMG_5821

Claire, Brooklynn and Molly hanging out by the penguins.IMG_5832

Molly always wants her picture taken with this penguin. Today was no different. Apparently she doesn't realize that she completely covered up her penguin buddy with this model-like pose.IMG_5839

The girls in the monkey cage…another zoo location that Molly could play at for hours.IMG_5837 (2)

At the end of the day, the kids attended a wildlife class where they got to touch an actual snake. Yuck. Molly had no apprehensions, though. She thought it was cool. Again I say, “Yuck!”IMG_5845 (2)

So, there you have it. The zoo. Again.

Wish I could promise that this would be my last zoo post, but I’d be lying. We go to the zoo a lot. I take pictures. Another post is simply unavoidable. I do apologize.

April Showers Bring May Flowers

And with as much rain as we got this April, May has arrived with multitudes of gorgeous flowers.IMG_5855IMG_5856IMG_5857IMG_5858IMG_5859My favorite is the big pink flower in the middle of each picture. …the tulips aren’t bad either!

Enjoy the beauty of Mother Nature…Happy Spring!
