As I sit here staring at the five blog posts that I have in the queue, I am tempted to rattle off all of the excuses I have as to why said posts have not been finished. And they are all valid excuses-really.
I have packed, been on vacation, unpacked, and washed two tons of laundry. I’ve cleaned the house that my sweet husband lived in—alone—for 2 weeks while Molly and I were on vacation. Eeeew! I’ve started and finished Molly’s life book (the adoption equivalent of a baby book—sort of). I’ve worked with Molly on a Father’s Day project. I’ve been to a rockin’ Girls Night Out with my friends. I’ve celebrated my 12th wedding anniversary. See, all perfectly valid excuses.
However, the real reason that I have been a bogging slacker is that it is SUMMER! S-U-M-M-E-R. Glorious, sunshiny, not a gray cloud in sight, summer!
Last evening I was sitting on a lounge chair at the zero entry beach of our local pool. It was almost eight o’clock but the sun was still shining on my face, the temperature was still in the eighties. My adorable daughter and her equally adorable little friend were sitting on the pool deck painting each other with paintbrushes and buckets of water. I was sipping a cool beverage and chatting with my dear friend, Stacy.
At that very moment I was overcome with the sensation that it just doesn’t get any better than this. Seriously. It was one of those perfect moments of no great importance that you wish would just last forever. It was the quintessential summertime feeling. The kind that you had when you were a kid. And I didn’t want it to end.
So there you have it. I have neglected this poor little blog because we have been busy enjoying summer. Every little sun-drenched drop of it. Soaking it in. Getting it while we can.
In recognition of the summer season, here is Molly’s summer wardrobe. I have to say that this season is a bit of a disappointment. Clothes are still cute, but Molly just didn’t grow that much. Last year’s clothes still fit. I didn’t get to buy near the amount that I would have liked. Boo hoo.
Molly is all about the dresses this summer. They have to “pull out like a princess.” Go figure.
She was coerced talked into getting some skirts and shorts, as well. Most of the tops still “pull out” like a princess.
This jacket and shirt were a gift from Aunt Kathy, but savvy shopper that I am, I found matching skirt and hair pretties!
And then we have the 4th of July ensemble…
But here is what you will find Molly in most every!single!day! Yep, my baby is a summer-lover, too!
Stay tuned for future posts where you will actually see Little Miss Molly wearing some of these adorable new clothes and (unfortunately) some of last year’s reruns.
