It’s the big Easter Post! Lots of pictures, lots of fun!

Molly was up early, raring to go. She was downstairs in a flash. Sam was clueless. It was his first Easter. But he is always up for new things. He’s the adventure boy, so he wasn’t far behind.

And of course, the big purple ball.Sam also got the Dr. Seuss book Green Eggs and Ham (get it, Sam I Am-heh) but Molly intercepted that before Sam could even look at it.

After the morning festivities, we ate a big ol’ holiday breakfast and played with all the new stuff.

Once it warmed up a little, it was time for an Easter Egg Hunt. Sam found the first egg. Probably because his were hidden in very easy-to-find locations.

Sam finished first and he patiently waited while Molly (and Mom and Dad) tried to find the last of Molly’s eggs. The Easter Bunny was so tricky that this took a while.

A fun, sugar-filled day for everyone. Including parents who must now explain to their children how half of their chocolate bunnies disappeared as they slept.

A Little Family Fun

A typical Saturday morning: wake up early, drive two hours to old hometown, attend Mandarin class, play with China friends, drive two hours home to new hometown.

Today, being Saturday, one would assume we would follow the same old routine. But this Saturday was different because Grandmom and Uncle Jack are in town for Easter!

After Mandarin class, we headed over to Aunt Karen’s house (the kids Aunt Karen, my SIL Karen) for a visit with the family.

It was great to spend several hours with family relaxing, chatting, eating (having someone else feed and play with my kids). Molly loves spending time with her relatives--getting loved and feeling special. Sam, as we are quickly finding out, is always up for a good time!

It really was an enjoyable afternoon. My sister-in-law Karen is always such a gracious hostess making you feel at home, cared for and relaxed. So glad that we got to alter our usual Saturday routine today!

Coloring Easter Eggs

Coloring Easter Eggs…an activity that I (as an adult) hate, but my kids love. So I do it. With a smile. But I still don’t like it. I don’t really know why.

Maybe it’s the mess, or the potential for there to be dye all over clothes or furniture, or the fact that the eggs never turn out the way I expect, or the fact that I am an extreme perfectionist and control freak and there are way too many variables that need my attention. I’m probably going with the last one.

It’s not that complicated, I know. Water, dye and vinegar in a cup. Put the egg in, take the egg out. Voila. But somehow, it always seems way more tedious.

But like I said, we did it with the kids, and I recorded the event in photographs for the blog.

So there you go. Coloring eggs done for the year. Now we have another 365 days before we can do this again. Yea! Darn.
